Treatment of hirsutism

Treatment of hirsutism is an actual problem: it face millions of women of all ages. Although hirsutism in itself poses no threat to health, but it often leads to serious psychological problems.

There is another psychological factor: most women want to get rid of superfluous hair forever, and right now. However, with any method of treating hirsutism only new hair growth is slowed down or just stop. Terminal hair already grown up not disappear or become themselves invisible. But mechanical means to remove them, as has been said, are contraindicated with hirsutism.

The earlier to start the proper treatment of hirsutism, the better the result will be.

Therefore, the earlier you start the right treatment, so you will also be better. And what has grown, it has grown. The only salvation here is laser therapy or photo-epilation and bleaching hair. True, some of the women, faced with this problem, reports that only dark hair lend themselves to clarification, but red hair, for example, - to any. By the same means for bleaching in the case of hirsutism may cause severe irritation.

Treatment of hirsutism is difficult and not fast. Whatever kind of therapy you choose, the results should be expected no earlier than after 5-6 months. Actually, the choice is not rich: all over the world for the treatment of hirsutism used oral contraceptives containing antiandrogens, for example, Aldactone or Diane-35.

As they say, shoot, do not miss it. Therefore, the doctors do not believe in the diagnosis "idiopathic hirsutism". Meanwhile, as you already understood, hyperandrogenism is not cause of disease, but only a general consequence of deeper pathological processes. This is probably why the use of Diane-35 and other similar drugs in some cases gives only temporary results, and sometimes none at all.

For example, this is one of the messages on the women's forum about the use of Diane-35:

"I drink it for the second time, the first time 1.7 years and now almost 2. I am personally very pleased, no problems with the skin, and superfluous body hair has become smaller, the cycle was like clockwork, polycystic disappeared. A disadvantage is that when you stop to drink tablets, all the pros listed above, just disappear."

Sometimes, of course, long-term effect of the use of hormonal treatment appears too. This is for one simple reason: our body is able to heal itself. Therefore, if at any time to block the production of excess androgens, it will give a respite to the patient body (e.g., ovaries or adrenal glands), in order to heal its sore spots. But it is in case, if the injury is not too heavy. For example, in the case of adrenal hyperplasia, you should have corticosteroids throughout all your lives.

In general, in order to, as already mentioned, the forecast was favorable, it should establish the cause of pathology and spend treatment of hirsutism in such scheme:

  • removal of tumors of the ovaries or adrenal glands (if there is evidence);
  • discontinuation of drugs that promote hair growth;
  • suppression of adrenal androgen production;
  • treatment of pathologies that increase the concentration in the body of glucocorticoid hormones (if Cushing's syndrome diagnosed);
  • treatment of hypothyroidism (if diagnosed);
  • normalization of adenohypophyseal functions (if increased allocation of growth hormone found);
  • treatment of hyperinsulinism (if there is obesity or diabetes);
  • restoration of ovulatory cycles in polycystic ovaries.

It should be noted, incidentally, that the work of all endocrine glands are interrelated, so that, for example, even in the pathology of ovarian, primary production of excess androgens in women occurs in the adrenal cortex, which in this case also is involved in the pathological process.

Elevated levels of insulin (diabetes type II, syndrome X) stimulates the production of androgens, but at the same time, hyperandrogenism often leads to a decrease in receptor sensitivity to insulin, which causes the pancreas to produce more insulin. That's a vicious circle that can be broken only if you start to dance from the oven: put in order the work of the main conductors of the endocrine orchestra - the liver, pituitary and thyroid gland.

Therefore, the best long-term results are obtained when combined treatment of hirsutism - the application of antiandrogenic drugs and complementary techniques. Moreover, this "additional" therapy is just, I think, the "proper" as is directed at eliminating the causes of the disease.

Proper therapy for hirsutism

Nutraceuticals can be used in the treatment of hirsutism in conjunction with allopathic therapy, and as a support during the rest of the drugs

The liver is involved in the metabolism of a number of hormones, so when liver chronic diseases, hormonal disorders will inevitably arise. Steroid hormones and insulin, also estrogens and androgens are inactivated by the liver to derive them from the body. Naturally, with abnormal liver function, this process also fails, and greater or lesser part of the hormones, instead of leaving the body is returned to the blood.

Naturally, with abnormal liver function, this process also fails, and greater or lesser part of the hormones, instead of leaving the body is returned to the blood.

But the liver has a remarkable property - it is able to rebuild its cells. There are natural remedies that help reduce the load on the liver and thus create the necessary reserves to restore it. These include, primarily, lecithin.

The admission of lecithin saves in a while the liver from the need to produce it own (lecithin is one of its major secrets), but lecithin also helps clean the liver from fatty deposits. Lecithin increases the effectiveness of treatment for practically all women's diseases.

One of the most effective hepatoprotectors is silymarin, contained in milk thistle. This substance has unique properties that contribute to the restoration of hepatocytes. In combination with the amino acids arginine, cysteine and methionine, silymarin restores the detoxication function of the liver. Therefore, the priority means to restore normal liver function should be regarded the consistent implementation of the course of lecithin and Liver Aid.

Should also take into account that liver disease does not occur in a vacuum. Most often they occur because of chronic malnutrition, too fatty, sugary and high-calorie food. Therefore, for successful treatment of hirsutism, changing nature of nutrition is absolutely necessary.

As already mentioned, hirsutism is often accompanied by obesity, and this further aggravates the situation, since obesity violates estrogen metabolism and increases androgen levels (so-called extraglandular synthesis that occurs in adipose tissue). Your endocrinologist, probably, would not say you that in obesity is recommended to use hormone replacement therapy, first to reduce body weight. Well, maybe he will gently hint.

Meanwhile, with hirsutism and obesity, prior conduct discharge diet is recommended. Because the dietary food can effectively reduce the level of androgens in women with overweight, patients in the treatment of hirsutism with obesity is recommended a diet low in carbohydrate. Carbohydrate content in the daily diet should not exceed 150-200 g, fat - 70-80 g; pastries should be avoided.

Reduced thyroid function disturbs the secretion of luteinizing hormone and ovarian dysfunction. But there is another unpleasant consequence of thyroid dysfunction. Since the thyroid gland is the main "hygienist" of organism, lack of iodine in the thyroid gland does not allow it to fully decontaminate the blood, which leads to activation of different infectious agents, including the reproduction of the parasitic flagellate - trichomonas.

According to several studies, trichomonas, fungi and other parasites are responsible for many cases of tumors and cysts. Moreover, vaginal trichomonas is the most active and pathogenic. A survey of women aged 16-58 years in the gynecological office showed the presence of vaginal trichomonas in all patients. However, in most cases, trichomonas is inactive, cyst-like form, and only when creating favorable conditions for its reproduction it becomes the active form.

The tumor is not formed just by itself. Any tumor is a consequence of the inflammatory process, and each inflammatory has its infectious agent. Since hirsutism is often associated with polycystic ovaries or adrenal tumors, even in the case of unknown causes of the disease, is recommended the normalization of thyroid function and target antiparasitic therapy.

For normal thyroid function, it must be first ensured by adequate amount of iodine. Meanwhile, the iodine in many regions is scarce a trace element. Profound deficiency of iodine leads to thyroid diseases, but much more common relative scarcity - to a hardly noticeable at first glance, but nonetheless very serious disturbances of functions of many organs.

Use of iodized salt is of little as inorganic iodine poorly absorbed by the body. Much more efficient sources of iodine are nutraceuticals, such as Ocean 21, Chlorella-Spirulina Plus. "Ocean-21", moreover, contains an extract of Pau d'Arco, therefore it can be used for antiparasitic therapy, including anti-trichomonas.

Low-carb diet (it is also desirable according the blood group), the recovery of the liver and thyroid gland plus pest treatment - this are the first and necessary steps in the "additional" treatment of hirsutism of any etiology.

Further application of nutraceuticals in the treatment of hirsutism depends on the diagnosis. If it sounds like "idiopathic hirsutism" and that is all - and treatment will be general in nature. Next nutraceuticals in that case should certainly help:

Natural Vitamin E Complex (Mega Vitamin E). The more in your diet of vitamin E, the less the likelihood of various neoplastic processes. Its protective effect is particularly enhanced in combination with vitamin C, carotenoids, selenium and other antioxidants (Mega Protect 4 Life).

Selenium is one of the strongest antioxidants in itself; to the same, its enough content in the body stops production of glutathione, a major antioxidant enzyme. Deficiency of selenium is a very common phenomenon in all continental regions. Most appropriate shape for the body is selenmetionin (Pro Selenium 50 mcg). The required dose is 100-200 mg per day.

Polyunsaturated fatty acids, especially gamma-linolenic and docosohexaenoic effectively inhibit the enzyme 5-alpha reductase, which converts testosterone into the active fraction (DHT). A good source of gamma linolenic acid is Evening primrose oil, and docosohexaenoic acid (DHA) - fat of coldwater fish (salmon, sardines, tuna and other).

From plant sources, most of DHA found in jojoba oil (external agent). For intake recommended capsules containing a standardized extract of fish oil - Omega-3.

Women's formulas VitalWoman and Menopausal Formula are a source of phytoestrogens, which counterbalance the increased production of male hormones and decrease the production of dihydrotestosterone. VitalVumen also contains an extract of Serenoa repens, which helps reduce oily skin and reduce the growth of body hair.

When hirsutism, it is best to take these two formulas together, as they complement each other perfectly, shifting hormonal balance in favor of estrogen. A good idea also is to complete this combination with Bee Power (an extract of royal jelly).

Phytoestrogens are good also because they can take a long time without fear of side effects, which can not be said of hormonal preparations. Antiandrogenic drugs, in particular, in chronic intake may lead to suppression of production body own androgens, i.e., excessive shift in the "feminine" side. Then you can become a squeaky voice, there will be crying, excessive emotionality, inability to protect yourself.

All of these nutraceuticals can be used in the treatment of hirsutism in conjunction with allopathic therapy, and as a support during the rest of the drugs.
