Nopal against Diabetes
It is estimated that about 2-5% of the world population suffers from diabetes. In 2000, the "army" of diabetics was more than 175 million people. Of course, these numbers are approximate, because in fact many diabetics, especially with the II-nd form of diabetes are unaware of their disease, which initially shows no definitive symptoms.

Studies of geographical distribution of diabetes clearly show that residents of Europe and North America are particularly vulnerable for this disease. At the same time it was pointed out that among the inhabitants of the North American continent there is a significantly higher percentage of diabetics in the U.S. and Canada than in Mexico. This was so interested for scientists, that they was decided to examine this problem more carefully. The U.S. population of Mexican origin was took "under the microscope", and it was found that there is significantly greater diabetics among them than among the inhabitants of Mexico itself.

This has given reason to believe that Mexicans living in Mexico, are protected against diabetes via some factor which is true only for this country. The answer was easier than they thought, and it sounded ... NOPAL.
Among approximately 130 plants recognized as medically beneficial for diabetic patients, 30 have anti-diabetic effect. These include Opuntia streptacantha, commonly called Nopal.
This popular Mexican cactus is in this country food product, which can be compared in terms of method and frequency of use, with our carrots or potatoes. So you can eat Nopal roasted, baked, grilled, raw as a salad, you can drink Nopal juice, it is even used as an additive to alcoholic drinks. However, compared with the good old carrot or potato, which, are rich in nutrients, too, Nopal is a real treasure of them. By the same substances contained in Nopal - amino acids, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, vitamins and minerals - have multifaceted therapeutic effect, on the head above the properties of our popular vegetables.
Nopal is primarily an ideal source of vitamin C, bioflavonoids, beta-carotene (provitamin A), as well as vitamin B1 (thiamine), B2 (riboflavin) and B3 (niacin). In addition, it is rich in minerals, especially calcium, magnesium, potassium and iron. Nopal is also a rich natural source of easily digestible amino acids. Of the 22 known amino acids it contains 17, out of which 8 are necessary for normal growth and development of the human body. These exogenous amino acids should arrive in our bodies with food. These are isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine.
However, the human body is able to synthesize the remaining 9 amino acids contained in Nopal, which are as necessary to life, as well as exogenous, but our diet have not always they in sufficient quantities. Amino acids are the fundamental basis of proteins. Lack of even one of them decreases the absorption of the others, which in turn leads to a distortion of biochemical processes. Therefore it is very important that our body gets enough high-grade proteins which contain different amino acids.
Amino acids contained in Nopal, but first these 8 exogenous amino acids, in conjunction with vitamins and minerals, offer us an effective and natural dietary supplement, especially for vegetarians.
Popularity of Nopal also linked to its ability to regulate body weight. In the complex processes of metabolism of fats and carbohydrates many amino acids are involved. Some of them have a strong influence on metabolism. For example, tyrosine, glycine and L-methionine are able to reduce appetite and improve mood. Other components of Nopal (eg, glutamic acid, proline and histidine, in conjunction with iodine and manganese) reduce the level of total cholesterol, its "bad" faction, and triglycerides. This process occurs during the expansion and subsequent elimination of fats.
In this way the components of Nopal warn deposition of cholesterol on the walls of blood vessels and the deposition of fat in the liver. In addition, vegetable proteins of Nopal help the body to drain liquid from the tissues - especially the skin - in the lymph and blood vessels, controlling edema.

Every day we are exposed to harmful action of various toxins, originating from different sources. Many nutrition experts suggest before you start the regular reception of any supplements - vitamins, minerals or herbs - first to clean up the body. Fortunately, Nopal to perform both these tasks. Most of the preparations for the cleaning of the body derive simultaneously with the toxins and wastes also minerals, and water-soluble vitamins, so when you receive them, you must also take additional medications (mineral supplements or a multivitamins) can fill a deficit.

In contrast, the Nopal, prompting the body of harmful substances, simultaneously imbues him with the necessary nutrients.
Nopal, which contains both soluble and insoluble in water dietary fiber, has a positive physiological, biological and microbiological effects on the digestive tract. Vegetable fiber, among other things, controls the amount of gastric juice, binds bile acids, regulates glucose and lipids in the blood, and supports the liver. It also helps to get rid of excess weight, because it reduces appetite and causes a feeling of satiety, cleans the colon, softening the stool and increasing its mass and frequency.
Since 1979, scientists are researching properties of Nopal to resist the emergence of diabetes. However, still unknown, what is, in fact, the mechanism of its action. It is well established that Nopal is able to reduce the level of glucose in the blood. Perhaps this is because of the slowing digestion of carbohydrates, which, in turn, slows the production of insulin. Simultaneously Nopal increases the sensitivity of cells to insulin and speeds, thus, the movement of glucose on the route: the bloodstream - cells. If these hypotheses will be confirmed, who knows, will not Nopal be new effective antidote against diabetes?

Pending the results of research, we can try properties of Nopal ourself. We will not have to travel in Mexico for that. In more suitable for a European form it is available in the form of the drug Nopalin. This multifaceted product containing dried stalks of Opuntia streptacantha, possesses not only the ability to reduce blood glucose levels. It helps in many other cases, of which we may mention the property to reduce cholesterol and triglyceride levels, regulation of the functions of the digestive tract and liver, treatment of finite sections of the colon, as well as assistance in maintaining optimal body weight. Add to this that Nopal extract is also a source of natural antioxidants, including carotenoids such as beta-carotene, lutein, or cryptoxanthin, exhibiting properties of vitamin A.

Nopalin is a drug with a very broad, almost universal effect, which can be compared with the panacea for all diseases. It not only helps to maintain health, but also allows you to restore the lost, to find balance. We have more than eight years experience with Nopalin that confirms all the above observations of other researchers and consumers.
It's incredible that, living in the hard climate of the desert, cacti are so rich with various substances, beneficially affect the human body. Use these riches ... to your health!
